Some more work on the EFIS battery installation. I had to fabricate a new reinforcing plate as one was interfering with the pressure sensor manifold. After the usual drilling, deburring, countersinking, and riveting these are the two parts. They are looking like swiss cheese.

This is the engine side. I also bolted down the forest of tabs and the battery and engine ground cables.

The backing plate on the other side.

I then installed the manifold pressure sensor. It's getting the pressure information from the engine and sending it to the engine instruments. There were only two nutplates to install, but access is not very easy.

This is the engine side. I still have to protect the grommet.

Rather than using a self-made auxiliary battery I bought the GRT set-up. It's quite difficult to find a good spot to install it. Under the seats and under the baggage floor, access is difficult. Behind the baggage area there might be wight and balance issues, and under the cowl temperatures might be a bit to high. So I opted for a position on the cabin side of the firewall behind the subpanel.

I made two small reinforcing plates that will support the nutplates. One or two rivets will hold the plates to the firewall.

I took down the left elevator to work on the trim servo wiring. A five strand wire is running from the fusleage through the horizontal stab and then to the left elevator where the strim servo is installed. To connect the wires to the servo I use some D-SUB pins that will then be covered by heat shrink.
This allows for a light and easy installation and removal if necessary.

Then the whole assembly gets some heatshrink and goes through a grommet installed on the forward spar of the elevator. The wire is supposed to go through the bigger hole, but I think it might interfere with the servo's screw.

The cable has to be cut or it won't be possible to get the elevator of the plane. SO I will have to install a connector small enough to go through all the holes. I make some tries using the method found on Aeroelectric. But, I'll see later how I'll work this out.

After the magnetometers wiring I decide to create the wiring for the taillight and strobe. After some struggle with the Molex connectors I managed to get the crimps right. The next wire to install will be the elevator trim wire.

No workshop time today as I caught a cold. I used the time to redo the trim wiring diagram. On VansAirforce there was a group buy for the new TCW Technologies Safety Trim system. I tink it will allow a safer operation of the trims, stoppong them if they are running to long and allowing some control in case they are stuck. It will also mix the inputs from both sticks without having to install relays.
The schematics are available HERE
