Pro-seal
Catégorie: Wings : Fuel tanks

Today I used ProSeal for the first time. This two part compound needs to be mixed in accurate proportions, then has to be used within two hours as it hardens slowly but surely.
I first tried a very small quantity (20g+2g) to get familiarised with the product. To me the compound didn't seems as free flowing as I had thought but it is surely tsicking to everything it sees. So I'm working with latex gloves not to get it on the hands, but it's impossible to keep it of the tools.
I first installed the stiffeners using the following sequence: first a bit of proseal in the dimple, then the rivet in the dimple, then the stiffener get proseal on the contact flange, it gets put into position and back riveted. The proseal oozes out from everywhere, but before cleaning, nice fillets are formed around the stiffeners and every rivet get a blob of proseal on the factory shop. Here is the result

After the stiffeners, I riveted the fuel caps, not forgetting the vent line attach clip.

I also riveted the drain valve support. To be noted the free path between the proseal blobs on each rivet to allow water to go all the way to the drain.

Today I did all this on the left tank, on the right I only did the cap and the drain before cleaning the tools and the tank skins.
