For two hours I tried to install my HID lights in the leading edge but they are too bulky and also too heavy (I'm going to resell them, write if you're interested).

Some small work on the lights. I tried to fit the HID lights I've bought recently. For this I used my fabricated support. Fixing on the support should not be a problem, but getting everything in the leading edge from the front will be one. I'll have to fabricate another, less tall, support bracket. On the picture, the Vans supplied light on the left and my HID lights in the middle, with ballast on the right.

Beginning of the landing lights installation. First thing is to mark the cut out with the template.



The I riveted the nutplates that will be used to secrew on the support plates I primed yesterday. The nutplates on the outboard rib got riveted with standard rivet, on the inner rib I used pop rivets they are barely visible on the picture.



Then the cutting. I used my pneumatix die grinder with a cutting wheel. To be on the safe side I cut quite far away from the line.



The first cut was too far from the line, I had to do another one nearer, then everything got sanded and deburred.

Today, I also fabricated parts to install a second leading edge light. I already have one light and just used this as a jig.
I won't have my HID lights until next week to see how the installation will go on these brackets.
