I first filled the voids around the oil filler cap using epoxy and microballoons. For the time being it looks quite rough.

I then remove the cap and rivet the two locks.

And the cowl without the cap, still some filling and sanding to do.

I then installed the lower cowl support bracket. This proved quite difficult as the bolts are hard to reach.
I then installed the lower cowl as I intended to finalize the exhaust installation. But I ran into a problem as the lower camlock on each side is interfering with the engine mount. This was not visible as the cmlock support strips where installed because the bend sightly inward when ths cowl is installed. Ishoud have installed those two camlocks a bit higher.

So that is what I did. It went quite well a the beginning but I managed to misdrill one of the holes in the cowl, this will have to be repaired using fiberglass and epoxy.
No picture of all this as the camera decided to go on strike upon seiing all this errors.

I needed one hour to get the oil door working a bit better. I filed down the upper lip and added as shim under the door.

The oil filler door installation took some time as there is quite a lot of tweaking to be done. First I made the cuts on the door and on the cowl.

Next I installed the hinge (it's not the standard Vans hinge). I had some problems with that, and it may need a bit more tweaking.
The cutouts for the locks proved also to be less than easy. I'm statidied with the result, but it's not perfect.

This is a view with the door open.

I still have the rivets to install and the cowl to fill around the door.

Some small tasks around the inlet on the lower cowl. There will be a seal between the lower lip of the inlet and the ramp. The seal will be glued to a small aluminium strip that will be screwed to the cowl.
The shape is not that easy to get, this is one of the sides drilled to the cowl.

I then drilled the holes for the nuplates on the inner side. I had to move some holes I had drilled as there was some interference with the strip fabricated earlier or the nuplates could not be correctly installed (it's easy to move holes in fiberglass, as you only have to fill the wrong ones).

Working again on the lower cowl bracket. One of the parts has to be bent and a made the bent a bit too short, so I had to refabricate the part from som leftover aluminium sheet.
I also noted that the nose leg fairing is too long, I will have to cut it at the top.
Ths is a view from below with the part installed.

And here is view from inside the cowl.
Next step will be to prime all the parts fabricated in the last weeks.
