Today we got some good news in the mail. Our building permit has been granted.
Now we will plan the building. First we will have the floor built, then a wooden garage, electricity, sturdy workbenches and equipment.
We hope to be able to begin pounding rivets in spring

I have orderded the specific tools needed to built a RV. I choose a complete kit by AveryTools, switching the manual squeezer for a pneumatic one. Dealing with Avery was straightforward, and the fact that Mimi Avery speaks french makes it so more easy. Here is a picture of the kit, I will publish more detailed photos while using the tools.

Today we have applied for a building permit for our workshop. The workshop will be smaller than previously planned, only 18ft by 12ft. It should be a bit to small but we'll have to live with this. We'll have to organize the storage outside of the workshop : garden shed, garage....
We now wait to know if the permit is granted, should take maximum two months.

As we are still planning the workshop, I bought the Tony Bingelis combo online at the EAA. The four books are based on Tony's famous column in the EAA magazine. Thought dated on some subjects, the books are very helpful getting basic informations on building and learning the english technical vocabulary.

As we are far from home at the present time, it's not possible to work on the workshop problem. That's why I try to plan ahead, working on anti-corrosion, electrical system (see the good work of Bob Nuckolls atAeroelectric Connection), defining the most important options, trying to get some informations about engine options, visiting other builders website\'s. In fact there are a few things that need to be as clear as possible before beginning actual building, this involves a lot of reading and studying. The Internet is the most valued information source.
