Today I assembled the elevator and the horizontal stab. This needs some tweaks as the skins and the rear spar have to be grinded (as per plans) to allow full flight control travel. Then the control horns are to be match drilled so they can be bolted together via the center bearing. This went quite well. TO finish the empennage the composite wingtips need to be adjusted and the trim servo motor fine tuned. Working time on this subpart Today : 3h (Total : 48h) |

This morning I assembled the trim tab and the left elevator. First the alignment is to be checked, then the elevator side of the hinge is drilled and to finish everything is riveted together. Then the leading edges get rolled. The skins are thicker than those of the rudder, a little manual help is needed to get a correct shape. I ended the day by installing the trim tab servo, as all the builders before me, I had to file the edges of the hole to get it into position. Working time on this subpart Today : 4h (Total : 45h) |

This morning I assembled partially the left elevator skeleton and the trim tab. Then as I was still missing some parts I planned to begin looking at the wings, but in the afternoon the replacement parts arrived. So they were fitted, drilled, dimpled and primed.(It goes quite fast the second time) As the paint dries rapidly, the skeleton was finished and the skin clecoed. Tomorrow I'll rivet the skin and maybe roll the leading edges. Working time on this subpart Today : 5h (Total : 40h) |
