Today, I worked on the main bulkhead. First I backdrilled into position the four rib supports on the forward side. As there are some nutplates ont the bulkhead, I countersunk the rivet holes. There are also nutplates on the supports, and on the two stiffeners I made out of some aluminium angle. There is some interference on some of teh bushing. My solution was to carefully saw a slit in the bushing and then install the interfering part. Then I installed the angles that will support the control column on the backside of the bulkhead. The I cut the optionnal lightening cut, here is the result. I finished the session by deburring all the parts. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 31h) |

Today I begin working on the main bulkhead, its a massive assembly that got delivered with the wings as it is paired to the mains spars. The spars will be bolted to this bulkhead, as well as the control column assembly. To begin I drill all the holes that will get snap-bushings installed. Here is the complete bulkhead. The two shear bars have to be backdrilled, the holes got coutersunk to allow the wing spar to be flush-installed. I then drill the four supports, the size of each hole is different to allow for the proper snap bushing. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 29h) |

Some more work on the seatback bulkhead. First I drilled the flaps mechanism supports on the drill press. Then I coutersunk all the holes that will get countersunk rivets. I then trimmed the seat belts anchors, some are interfering with the floor ribs. I finished the day by deburring some parts, I'll finish the remainder tomorrow. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 26h) |

Again some work on the seatback bulkhead. On the upper part I had to install an angle and some aluminium part tha gets first bended. The angle is to be installed at 1/8" from the upper part of the bulkhead, to maintain the distance I us two 1/8" drill bits. Then the plate gets bend by 4°, I did this by maintaining the part between two wood blocks. I had to tweak it a bit to make it work. Here is the upper part of the bulkhead showing the two possible positions of the seatbacks. Then I finished the angles I had cut last time. First they get drilled into position and then the slot get drilled to. I first drilled two holes at the ends of the slot, and then used a cutter in my small grinder. Here all the parts are assembled, I still need to coutersink for all the flush rivets and then deburr everything. Working time on this subpart Today : 4h (Total : 24h) |
