Today, I ended the work on the aft spar and begun working on the forward spar. Working on the reinforcing angle did no go as planned : too much enthusiasm and a wrong used tool and I ended up with having not enough edge distance for the last hole, I will order a new angle from Van's.

The spar will be finished next week. I ended the day removing the blue plastic from all the empennage skins.

Today only prep work. As I worked this night, I don't touch any electric or pneumatic device during the day (ask me how I know not to do this), but I prepared all parts to assemble the front spar and all the ribs. I hope to drill everything tomorrow.

Today is the first day of aircraft building. It begins with the aft spar for the horizontal stabilizer. First I prepared the skins by taking of the blue plastic sheet, they I clecoed them to the half spar.

Then I drilled the holes to the correct diameter. The spar is then deburred and dimpled. Next step was to prepare the two reinforcing bars and assemble everything with the copper colored clecos. At the end I drilled to size the holes fixing all this together.

Next session will be on tuesday, I have some real work this week-end.

Van's training kit is ideal to try to know the tools and techniques that will be used during the construction. The kit is made of two sub-projects : a control look-alike assembly and a small assembly of only three parts.
I first assembled the small three part project and made my share of errors : wrong diameter holes, dimpling on the wrong side, assembly without removing the plastic protection, bad rivets.
The second part went a bit smoother, but there still were a few errors.
All this is useful to find solutions and also to get some training in removing rivets.

Today the workshop is finished, electricity is working, the worktables are completed and everything is stowed away. Here is the compressor corner, it is stowed behind a mobile worktable (1,50 x 0,60m).

This is another corner with some shelves and another mobile worktable with the drillpress, the bench grinder, the bandsaw and a vise.

This is the last worktable (fixed) with the tools rack and small parts stowage. On the bench the training kit from Van's, this will be the next task
