Today project got inspected by the regulatory authority. This takes place before the wings can be closed.
We made a complete tour of the project : the wings, the fuselage, the engine and all the papers I already have.
There was no problem about the quality of my work.
We also talked about the next steps, mainly the last one before I get flight permission.
For that visit I will need some official papers, and also some items will have to be on board.
The only problem we found was about performing aerobatics. The problem is that the canopy should be jettisonnable and I modifed the mechanism. Anyway, the struts will also prevent the canopy from leaving the plane and might prevent the pilot's egress. So I will have to see if it's still possible to modify the plane or if I will drop the aerobatic side of the mission.

One hour was enough to finish the left gear leg fairing, and sand both fairings.
The fairing is clamped to the gear leg, I could not find the clamp all the parts, so I used an inox one I had at home. The clamp is a bit to large and almost hits the brake line.
I will have to find another clamp and modify or redo the brake line. Upon reflexion, I think it would have been wiser to wait until now to do the brake lines.



I could not help trying one of the upper fairings, it looks quite good do far. Those fairngs are from Fairings etc..

I have begun the installation of the right gear leg fairing. The directions in the plan are somewhat confusing and the reference line is missing on the fairing; So should I cut on the upper part of the fairing?



Or on the lower part?



I slided the upper leg fairing into position and it seems I will be better of cutting the lower part.



The two fairings are now cut.



Then I go on by installing the piano hinge that will close the rear of the fairing once installed on the leg. All this needed the usual drilling, deburring, countersinking and riveting.



The picture show the fairing on the gear leg. I had to trim the lower part a bit as there was some interference with the brake line.



I now have to sand the trailing edge and finish the left side.

I think it will be easier to adjust the wheel fairings with the engine off the fuselage. The fairings have to be aligned with the fuselage in the flying attitude and the wheels not touching the floor, this will be easier to do without the weight of the engine.
But first I fabricate to small dollies to put under the main wheels to be able to move the fuselage sideways in the workshop.



Then I assemble the two halves of the front wheel fairing. A few spots need some sanding but this should ne be a problem.



Then I assemble the main wheel fairings, looks not too bad.



Here is a picture of where both halves meet, I have a few 1/16" gaps.



Then I verified that leg fairngs where not twisted using two squares.



The template on the plan will be used to cut the fairing to the correct size.

Only one hour in the workshop to redo the safety wire on the pitch servo control. First I put some blue Loctite on the bolts and then I use a smaller gage wire which proved easier to install.
