Filler applying goes on slowly, the parts I did yesterday cannot be sanded as the are not cured enough.
After hanging the rudder, I decide to tackle the gap between the rudder and the vertical stabilizer.
For this I fabricate a shim as thick as required and fill the gaps with the shim in place. The snading and finishing will be done with the parts of the fuselage.

As the weather is a bit too ccol for the epoxy to set rapidly, I decide to try to tackle as small problem with the canopy skirts. As the picture shows, they are undulating slightly between the screws.
After having taken the canopy of the frame, I try to push the upper side of the skirts inward but the configuration of the parts makes it difficult.
After re installation of the canopy it looks a bit better but I may have to put a small seal out of proseal to hide the undulations.

First task is to finish the bonding of the remaining fiberglass strips.
Then I mx up some epoxy and microballoons to begin filling all the gaps. The slurry is a bit to dry to be applied perfectly. I'll wait for it to dry, then do some sanding tests and then try to perfect my work.

I first rivet the elevator tips and begin to mold the front part around the counterweight.

Then I install a strip of fiberglass to cover the gap between the tips and the structure. The picture shows the vertical stabilizer. I use the method described HERE. It works very well, the working environment stays clean and its possible to take the strips to another part of the workshop without to much mess.

Before riveting the tips, I prime approx. 4" of the skins it will protect the skins while making a smooth transition from the tip.

Then the tips are riveted to the stabilizer. I will rivet the elevator tips later as I want to bond them to the counterweights.
