Working again on the battery box, all the holes have to be deburred and dimpled. Next the box in installed on the firewall. To do this, some rivets have to be drilled out. Under the battery box, battery and starter relay have to be installed. There are some more rivets to drill out, and a doubler to cut and drill. On the picture, everything is in postion but the drilling has still to be done. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 4h) |

As I am a bit stuck with work in the cabin, I decide to take a look at the firewall forward. I begin by working on the battery box. Eight holes have to be drilled, here is a picture after three are done. On the foreground, the bar that will hokd the battery in the box (the non aligned holes in the middle of the bar are my personal touch of the day!!!!!) Now the drilling is dond and the side angles are match drilled too. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 2h) |

I begin by tackling the fuel lines around the electric fuel pump and the filter. This is done on the workbench, there are a few tubes with interesting bends to install. I quickly notice that my cheap tube bender will not work it scratches deeply the tubing. So I'll do that once I have the correct tool. Working time on this subpart Today : 1h (Total : 124h) |

Still fiddling with the brake lines, I try to adjust the lines going from the parking brake valve to the fitting exiting the fuselage near the main gear weldment. Here the brake valve view. Here a view towards the back. The gear weldment on the right and the blue fitting further right. On the floor, one of the rib support cover I had to remove, the line is going through the support and this will give some trouble. Here is the fitting that will exit the floor. the line end has still to be flared, but before there is a sleeve and a nut to slip on it. This will prevent the line to be pulled through the rib cover support bushings, so I think it has to be done once everything is installed for good. I don't have to do it now, so I'll wait a bit. Today was plumbing day. I first fabricated the fuel tank vent tubing. Both takns are vented to avoid fuel starvation. The air comes from under the fuselage via a very small scoop, goes through the cabin and exits on the sideskin going to the fuel tank. On the picture, the two blue fittings shows both ends of the tubing, and the black clamps show the routing. Here the left side is finishe, the routing is really tortuous. The fittings going through the floor have to be modified to act as small scoops. The one on the left has been modified, I still have to install a small grid to avoid ingesting debris. Here the fitting is installed, I also grinded the threads that have no more purpose on this side. They I begun bending the cabin part of the brake lines. They are running from the parking brake valve to the main gear weldments. Here is a picture of both lines, looking backwards. They are running under the fuel valve, so I had to make sure there won't be any interference with the fuel lines. I still have all the flares to do.
