To finish the instrument panel, I have to install the cables activating the parking brake and the cabin-heat valve.
I begin by the latter. The cable goes along the right side, then down the firewall before reaching the valve.
I install two c-clamps and drill one of the firewall reinforcing angles to allow the passage of the cable. This is a view af the right side.

And this is cable at the valve.

For the parking brake, the routing is along the left side.

And this is how the cable reaches the parking brake valve.

I first finish the flaps wiring I left yesterday.
Today's goal was to finish and test the trim wiring.
To test the trims I have to install the stick wiring. I first have to sand the inside of the wooden grips so they can slide on the stick tubing.
I also have to cut the tubing so that the stick does not interfere with the panel, I leave them as long as possible it will be easier to cut them shorter later. The right side goes well as the stick can be unplugged and cut on the bench. The left side I decide to cut in the cockpit. And, by mistake, I begin to cut too low at the mark I made for the bottom of the grip. The picture shows the cut mark, I think it can be welded but I will order a new stick. I don't like to mess with the flight controls.

The wires exit at the bottom of the stick.

This is the right side grip : at the rear, the push to talk, at the front, the coolie hat for the trims and the autopilot disconnect.

I couldn't make the connections for all teh wires today, but checked the trim indicators. They give some indications, once all is wired we'll see if the really work.

Today I worked on the flaps wiring.
It's a bit complicated by the fact that I use a flaps positionning system.
But first things first, I test the system with the flaps positionning system disabled, as I would do in case of malfunction of the system.
I then reconfigure the wiring to use the flaps positionning system. As it needs the flaps position I install and wire the position sensor.

I then test and program the system. It's not without some little snags due to the fact that the CPU has only a single programming button and a LED. But after a few tries, I manage to get some satisfactory results and can test the whole system.

The flaps position is also transmitted through the EIS to the EFISes. After some tweaking the EFIS shows a bargraph with the flaps position. Here they are approximately one third down.

I first make the markings for the fuse blocks (some picture anotrher time).
I then switch on the AOA indicator. I perform the tests that are possible without having connected the intercom ands the flaps.

I then switch on the autopilot and suprise, the fuse melts. After some investigation work I find out that I didn't put a connector on the aileron servo harness and all the pins were in conatct with each other, the short was inevitable.
Once there was a connector installed, the result looks much better.
I perform some tests to see if the connexions between the Garmin 496 and the EFIS GPS are working. I also tested the pitch servo which seems to be working. There are still a lot of tests to perform once all the parts are installed.
