Catégorie: Wings : Final assembly

Some small items were to finish after wing mating.
Among them I had to install the fitting on the right side fuel line.

Now that the garden is cleaned up, I have to do the same in the workshop. Before that, I do the cut on the flaps, only 3/64" to cut off.

Then I also do the cut on the wing fairings, deburr and dimple everything.

Catégorie: Wings : Final assembly

Once everything has found its place it's back to square one and put all the parts again in storage.
After removing the wings, I check the edge distances on the rear spar. This is the shortest I measure for a computed allowed distance of 0,469" (this is due to the fact I'm measuring the edge of the hole and not the center so I substract half a bolt diameter, 5/32"), from the 5/8 minimum edge distance given in the plans).

And the garden with everything back in storage.

I have a full sheet of tasks to do with all the parts installed during wing mating : deburring, dimpling, cutting...

Catégorie: Finishing : Canopy

I first sand a bit more aof the rear of the canopy. Then I sand all the edges from the canopy and the window.
I file away a small amount of skin in the front as it always snaps with the fuselage skin. The gap will be larger but I will work on this after final assembly.

I still had to tweak the gap between the rear of the canopy and front of the window. As the weather was still fine and evrything looked ready I did it today. The canopy is not that easy to install once the wings are mated.
I sand of the gap needed, but fine sanding will take place next time.
I will also have to find a solution to the canopy skin catching the forward fuslage skin.
