This morning I adjusted and drilled the tips of the horizontal parts of the empennage. It may look like nothing but there was some work to be done: drilling, countersinking the fiberglass parts and dimpling the aluminium. Then I cutout some small ribs in lght foam. During the drilling, the aluminium strips bonded yesterday came of. So I had to glue them again (I think the better sequence is : drill the tips first, then drill the aluminium strips, then glue the strips). I also glued the foam ribs and made a small repair on the empennage fairing (see the white peel ply strips). Working time on this subpart Today : 4h (Total : 16h) |

Still working on the tips. I first install some aluminium reinforcing strips along the flanges to avoid having the rivets tear through the fiberglass. Then I reinstall all the empennage parts on the fuselage, this will allow to see the alignments and gaps between all the controls. Before that I have to rivet the forward mount of the vertical stab. To be honest I had to do it twice as it was on the wrong side the first time. Here all the parts are on the fuselage again. Working time on this subpart Today : 3h (Total : 12h) |

The mapbox is riveted and then installed in the fuselage. This does not go without some problems as I have some problems reinstalling the subpanel. Using another sequence it goes better, but the fact that the left side is already riveted does not help. I will also have to file a bit the opening in the subpanel. I also make two pilot holes in the panel, the other holes will be drilled later. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 181h) |

The day begins with the installtion of the canopy on the frame. The screws are tightened just enough to avoid cracking the plexiglas. At the end of the day, I reinstall the canopy on the fuselage. The next operation will be to fabricate the seal and the fillet at the front. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 123h) |
