The compressor being repaired (the cylinder head seal was broken), rivetting can begin. First I reassemble the rollbar, the foward part is riveted with plain rivets after the joining plate has been riveted into position and the reinforcing strips installed. The rear part gets riveted with pop rivets as the rear of the part is now inaccessible. On the inside I have more rivets than on the plans due to my small problems while drilling the parts. On the rear face I also installed the angles that will support the brace between the rollbar and the liggage bulkhead. Working time on this subpart Today : 3h (Total : 140h) |

As I'll soon begin the installation of the empennage, I decided to fabricate a few small parts that will be needed: two shims and the elevator stop. Before drilling the elevator stop I put it into position on the fuselage, to make sure I will be drilling without compromising the edge distances on the fuselage longerons. Still working on the fuel plumbing. First I found a solution to the interference problem that was still bothering me. In fact I need an angled fitting on the gascolator, so I took one of the fuel valve and installed on the fuel valve a straight fitting with an angled AN fitting. This will allow me to rotate the AN fitting so as to avoid the interfering line. Here a picture of the AN fitting on the fuel valve. And a picture of the fuel valve and fuel pump. This is the fuel line coming from the pump entering the firewall at the gascolator's position. I didn't work on the fuselage passthroughs, because I will refabricate all the fuel and brake lines. The trial and error approach that I needed here means the lines got worked on quite a lot, and aluminium tends to harden and break. The price tag is not very high (25$ for all the lines). The compressor still being unusable I have to work on parts needing no compressed air. First I store all the parts primed saturday, then I install the end parts on the elevator pushrods. Then I recleco the roll bar, riveting will be done later. Then I begin working on the fuel lines going from the fuel tanks to the fuel valve. It's quite difficult to work with this lines as access is not optimum. Here is the right side, the line is coming from the fuse side, the goes through the gear weldment, through two bracket before reaching the fuel valve. A view of the fuselage exit, the grommet is missing. The line should go from there to the fuel tank, but I'll install a fitting to avoid avoid the long tube outside the fuselage. The bending and flaring are done in the fuselage. The line is now in for good. After I installed the fuel pump I noticed some interference between the lines, some tweaking got all cleared bt I still have to check if I didn't damage something in the process. I finish by installing the left side. What took one hour on the right side, was done in five minutes here. Working time on this subpart Today : 3h (Total : 135h) |
